Isaiah 40:8

What Lasts Forever?

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will endures forever, Isaiah 40:8.

Look at the context on Isaiah 40:6b,7 :), “All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass.”

This verse reminds us that people are not permanent, but the word of God last forever. Previous verses Isaiah 40:6b says, ‘All flesh is grass’ and verse 7 says ‘surely people are grass.’ This should remind us that we should never base our lives on things that are fleeting. We should never base our lives on politicians or pastors or parents or spouses or children.

What is our base foundation?

This verse for today reminds us that we should be putting our faith in the word of God not in those people around us. We should put our ultimate hope in God.

Prayer: Father, Thank You for Your word neither withers nor fades. Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven. In a world that’s constantly shifting, help me build my life on what is eternal. Speak to my heart through Your Word today, and give me the courage to share Your love. Amen.
